FAQ
-
What do you offer as a collaborator?
I’m a multi-talented and gifted Lyricist, Composer, and producer with a bachelor’s in Lyrics/Songwriting and an associate’s degree in Audio Engineering. I can write your lyrics and melodies to an industry standard and can play instruments such as Guitar, Electric/acoustic, Bass, Piano, Drum, Violin, and ukulele.
I’m also very skilled at creating electronic compositions in Ableton Live 12, where I can create any kind of electronic music you want.
-
How Much do your services cost?
For Aspiring Musicians and Artists, Nothing. It will depend on whether you want to hire me and own the rights to the music I create for you, but I wouldn’t give those up without hefty compensation.
If you're a business that wants to hire me to compose for film, games or commercials, I would charge roughly $500 per minute, but that can differ depending on the project and the requirements of the project.
-
How Much Royalties will i own
It will depend on how much you contribute to the songwriting process. I would own 50-90% of song royalties.
Splitting royalties can be complicated, especially since agreements can differ based on the member's participation in the creative process.
The more you contribute, the more royalties you'll be entitled to. If you don't contribute anything, I would legally own 100% rights to the composition, but if that's the case, I'll still let you keep 10% of the music royalties.
-
How do you make money if you're not charging Artists
I’m not interested in selling my services. I’m mostly interested in creating professional relationships through partnerships and making money through shared royalties.
In simpler terms, I’m investing in you as an artist by helping you write, produce, and master your music. And if you become famous, I’ll also benefit from your success. Through shared royalties and exposure. So it’s a win-win deal for both of us.
-
Will i participate in the songwriting process?
If you're not a songwriter, you don’t have to be part of the writing process; I can write music independently. But if you want to contribute to the process and help with writing melodies or lyrics, please do. Because a different perspective can make a huge difference.
-
What's stopping you from ripping me off and stealing my ideas for yourself?
Many things are stopping me from ripping off artists
Firstly, I can develop my own ideas for melodies and lyrics, so I have no reason to steal from someone else.
Secondly, credibility means a lot in this business. Everyone knows everyone, and if I ripped someone off, I would risk word getting out and having my reputation and my credibility ruined. So stealing from someone else, no matter how small they are as an artist, would be an incredibly foolish thing to do.
And thirdly, the laws of copyright are very strict in Australia. So if i wanted to steals someone else's ideas, it would be pretty much impossible for me to get away with it.
All this applies to you as well. If you decide to rip me off, it would most likely ruin your career as an artist.
-
What do you look for in Artists/collaborators
I look for talented people who are passionate and dedicated to becoming amazing artists. It doesn’t matter to me how developed your career is or if you’re already successful.
I mostly care about how great you can become or if you have something to express as an artist. So, if you want me to collaborate with you, try to sell me the reasons why I should work with you and help you achieve your dream. Send me links to your YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or anything that shows you as an artist that I should work with.
-
Do i have to be a certain age to work with you?
I have a working with children’s check, but I would not work with anyone under 13. You'll be qualified to apply if you’re between 13 and 17. However, I would still need approval from your parents or Legal Guardians so they can be assured that there is no illegitimacy and that your safety online is guaranteed.
And no one is ever too old to become an artist, it's been proven with people who start off with drug addiction in their 30s and 40s to earning 6 figures off their music careers.
-
Would you accept anyone as a collaborator
No, I’m very choosy about who I work with. And I don’t have time to collaborate with every artist who needs a songwriter to help them.
Many people want to be rich and famous, but not everyone is committed to working hard to make it happen. I would much rather work with people with real talent, passion, and dedication to music and plan to go far in their careers than with people who don’t intend to put in the hard work and end up wasting my time.
-
Do you have your own studio to record in?
I do, but like many artists and musicians, it’s a home studio, and I’m not comfortable letting people into my home right away, especially if I don’t know them well enough.
It’s pretty common for artists to be able to record themselves even in their own bedrooms, and you would be expected to be able to record your own vocals or instruments.
-
What kind of Music do you write?
I can write almost anything—electronic, acoustic, Indie, Pop, Rock, Reggae, Rap, Country, Jazz, pretty much anything.
I can play Electric/Acoustic/Bass Guitar, Piano, Violin, Ukulele, and drums, but I can also create any sound on a Digital Audio Workstation Called Ableton Live 11.
I would mostly write music that I enjoy as a listener. If I don’t find it appealing, I’ll most likely not be interested in creating it.
-
Would you work with Artists internationally?
Yes, I would love to work with people from different countries. Unfortunately, if you want to write a song in a language other than English, you might need to find a lyricist who is more fluent in the language you want. The best I can do is write in English and put it through a translator, but there are many reasons why that's a bad idea.
-
How do i know you're not scaming me?
If I were trying to trick you into handing over your money, wouldn’t I ask for it first?
I’m offering a partnership in which my success depends on your success. We would be in the same boat and either succeed or try again. And if I were expecting you to spend any money, it wouldn’t be on me; it would be for a studio session, your own equipment, or paid promotions for yourself on social media.
-
Is there anyone you wouldn't work with
Yes, mainly people who don’t have much talent in music and would most likely waste my time or people with whom I wouldn’t want to be associated with. Mainly people who are Rude, Arrogant, Narcissistic, Racist, Sexist, Homophobic, transphobic or ableist in any way. I'm not gonna work with anyone who would potentially inflict harm towards anyone with their backwards ideology, especially if they would cause more damage if they had fame and influence.
I’m also very wary of people who try to manipulate me through guilt-tripping or gaslighting to get me to do what they want. I’ve heard it all in my line of work and my personal life, and I can spot it a mile away.
Remember, if I find you unpleasant to work with at any point, I’ll have no problem cutting off contact, so please remain civil and show respect.
-
How Do Song Royalties work?
They are payments made to a song's owner or part owner when it’s played on streaming services like Spotify, Tidal, or YouTube Music. You can also get paid for your music when it gets played on TV, Movies, Games Radio or when it’s performed live.
-
What Should i do if you reject me?
If I reject you, don’t let it stop you from achieving your dream of being an artist. It’ll mostly be because you need to spend some time improving and getting better at your musical ability. When you do get better, you should try again to reach out. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying a second or a third time.
However, I would not recommend filling my inbox with multiple applications in a short period of time to get my attention. That would be incredibly annoying and make me more disinterested in working with you. Also, don’t send me sob stories, bribes, empty promises, or pitches for reconsideration. I’m not a fan of people who don’t respect the decision to say no.
-
Reasons you would reject an artists
I would reject people who didn’t do enough to convince me that I should make music for them. Either they didn’t perform well, they didn’t share any videos of them playing or singing, or their style of music would’ve been too hard to sell to the masses and not as capable of being successful.
-
What if i don't like the song you wrote for me?
I’m perfectly fine with constructive criticism, and if there’s something you want to change or improve, Everyone has creative differences. If you want a different song, I’ll write another song for you and save the song I originally wrote for someone else. It’s common for artists to reject songs written for them and become successful with other artists.
-
Is there a kind of music you wouldn't write?
I wouldn’t write anything considered Hate Speech or discriminatory to people of any protective class. Or propaganda for religious or political beliefs. Especially if I find the messages incredibly dangerous or immoral. But besides that, I would not write music that I would find, generic, boring, or lacking in quality. I would write music if i believe it could be successful.
-
How would the songwriting process work?
We would contact each other through messaging or Zoom chats. I would get to know you as a person and an artist by asking you questions about what kind of song you would like to make. Like whether you want it to be about love, loss, Empowerment or wanting to dance. What kind of message do you want to share, what kind of style do you want, and who do you want to be inspired by? Or if you have an idea in mind, like a melody or a lyrics, and if you want to help create the song together. I know you would probably give this information in the form before talking to me, but it’s always worth talking about this through real discussion.
I would get to work writing and putting together the composition for you. Keep in mind that the process can be indefinite and could take a few days to a month or more, so remember to be patient, and I'll get in touch with you when I need to.
I'd send you rough backing tracks of the song so you can give your input and let me know if there's anything you want to add or change about it or if you have any ideas you want to share with me.
When it's time to start recording, I'll send you multiple backing tracks, with and without pitch reference, Lyric sheets, rough recordings, Additional information and instructions you might need.
I’ll wait for you to record your vocals and have you send them back to me so I can edit, mix, and master them. When the song is done, I’ll give it to you to release.
-
How should the recordings be when i send them to you.
When you send your WAV recordings back, make sure they are Raw and Isolated, with no vocal effects or autotune added and no additional sounds. Your vocals don't have to be perfect but try to make them as clean as possible.
You can send multiple WAV files of your vocals, whether it's one, fifty, or more. Just make sure you label the files based on the lyrics you sing in them. It's not crucial, but it would make my job easier. And I'll let you know if I need you to re-record anything.
-
Is recording my own vocals hard?
It’s actually pretty straightforward; all you need is a decent microphone, a vocal pop filter, noise-cancelling headphones, a computer or a phone to record your vocals on and a quiet room to record in.
You can soundproof and improve the acoustics and noise reduction of your room by covering the walls with pillows, blankets, mattresses, rugs, towels, cardboard or anything with rough, uneven surfaces. This will absorb sound travelling in and out of the room and stop the sound of your voice from bouncing off flat surfaces like the walls and floors (rooms with carpet are good) and causing an unwanted echo in your recording.
There are a lot of ways to soundproof your recordings, even cover yourself and the microphone with a blanket over your head or putting your mic into a solid laundry basket with a towel covering the surfaces.
-
Will i be taking any risks?
No. You’re not spending any money on having me create music for you.
You might spend money on self-promotion or hire social influencers to promote your music to millions on TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube, but that has nothing to do with working with me. The only thing you would be risking is probably an hour out of your day, and that’s if you don’t want to participate in the writing process.
-
You might not be Charging me, but do i still have to spend money?
You might not be spending money on me, but you would spend money on the basic necessities like a microphone to record yourself or your own self-promotions
It might set you back a few hundred but it’s not that big of an investment in the long run and If you’re not willing to make that investment in yourself as an artist, then you’re likely not serious about becoming an artist.
-
What if i Change my mind and decide to write the song myself even if you contributed?
Well, that scenario would apply if you were planning to have me put in the time and effort to write your music, only for you to rip me off and take all the royalties for yourself. But that wouldn’t be possible without a lawsuit taking form. The only way you could pull it off is to take everything I’ve contributed to the song out, which means Lyrics, Melodies, Chords, Basslines, rhythms, sounds or whatever I did, would have to be redone differently, and in the end, it would just be a huge waste of both of our time, only for you to possibly get slightly more money then you would’ve been entitled to.
-
Would you own the royalties to my Music?
Yes, it’s how I would make a profit. But it doesn’t mean I would keep everything; we would split the royalties fairly among everyone involved so that everyone can make a profit.
-
Will working with you help my career?
What I’m offering is a mutually beneficial collaboration. I would also be working with other Aspiring artists, so if someone I work with becomes successful, it will bring attention to me and the music I write, and since I write music for you as well, it would bring attention to you as an artist.
There are absolutely no guarantees that working with me alone will help you in your career. You can’t be expected to sit back and wait for success to happen for you, you would still have to actively do things to make it happen, like promote yourself on social media, build an audience and present your music to potential Media sources. But working with me will still give you the Music you need to make that happen.
-
What if i already have a song written out, and i just need someone to help with producing or recording?
That’s Great for you, but if you already have a song written and don’t need a songwriter, I don’t have much reason to get involved. You can hire someone else to produce electronic sound or record different instruments. But if we work together, i would have to contribute in the songwriting process for this to work. So we would work on a new song together.
-
What's the difference in Song Royalties and Performance Royalties?
Song royalties are when the creator of the song’s composition gets paid when the song is played or steamed. However, this also applies when other people use their song as a cover.
Performance royalties are paid to the creator of the song’s recording when it’s played or streamed. However, the creator doesn’t own the song itself, and if someone plays a cover, they won’t receive the royalties for it.
-
Are there any Rules i have to follow when working with you?
Show me respect, don’t try to rip me off for any royalties I’m entitled to, and don’t be unpleasant to work with.
Also, don’t do anything in your personal life that would make you a toxic person to be affiliated with, like being too controversial or spreading hate speech online or in person. or committing non-victimless crimes that can’t be justified.
I need to be able to stand by you since I’m going to help you become an artist, and I can’t do that if I’m enabling you as someone who would do more harm than good and can also be a very dangerous Influence for people to look up to.
-
Will you let other artist record the music you write for me, even without my permission?
Absolutely not. The only reason I would let another artist record a song made for you is that you didn’t want the song in the first place.
-
What would happen if we wrote a song together and cut off contact sometime after?
We would still have legally shared custody of the music we create together.
-
What if i decide to backout during the writing process of a song?
I’m unsure why someone would consider backing out, considering I’m likely doing all the work. But if you did decide to back out of our partnership, i would likely take the song we were working on and give it to another artist. But if you contributed to the creative writing process somehow, you’ll still have shared rights to composition royalties even if another artist performs the song.
-
Can i buy the rights to the music you create and have full ownership to the royalties?
You can try, but I’m not a ghostwriter. Songs can often create a huge profit down the line, and it would be foolish of me to give those rights up for a one-time payment, no matter how big.
-
How can i make money as an artist if you own most of my song's royalties
I would only own the composition royalties to the songs I write or co-write for you. I don't own anything that you create on your own. Besides the money, you could also present yourself as a recording artist with industry-made music and create opportunities to earn money in different ways.
Song royalties are usually a fraction compared to how professional artists make a living, including paid gigs, merchandise, endorsement deals, sponsorship record deals, supporters, and superfans.
